Q. I’m an adult, can I participate? A. We would love to have you join us!
Q. What are the session dates and times? A. All our sessions will be held on Friday evening. Sessions for beginning violinists are at 7:30pm ET, enrichment classes (Science Storytime, Musical Storytime, and Music Trivia Kahoot!) are at 8:00pm, and sessions for intermediate violinists are at 8:30pm ET. Sessions for participants playing original parts (advanced players) will be scheduled as needed. For more detailed calendar, please see the calendar page here.
Q. How old should my child be to participate? A. We recommend that the children are at the age that they can navigate on Zoom as requested. This includes being able to unmute/mute themselves, use the "raise hand" button, and speaking clearly. Generally, we have had participants in kindergarten and above.
Q. What Suzuki levels are beginner and intermediate? A. Our beginner parts (Violin A/B) are recommended for students familiar with open strings (Pre-Twinklers) up to middle of Book 2. The Intermediate parts (Violin C/D) are recommended for students in middle of Book 2 through Book 6. Advanced players are recommended to play Offenbach's original parts.
Q. If I have more than one child do I need to sign them up separately? A. To receive individual instructor feedback and participate in the workshop with Dr. Lynn, they will need to be signed up separately.
Q. What ages are the enrichment classes aimed at? A. Science and music enrichment classes are designed for students in kindergarten and elementary school age.
Q. What technology equipment do I need? A. Anything that you can do Zoom on. For Kahoot! classes, we recommend that the participants have a second device to play Kahoot! on.
Q. Is it ok if I miss a session? A. Yes - all of our sessions are optional to attend! We will do the best we can to post the rehearsal replay every week on Google Classroom.
Q. What will be covered in the guest workshop? A. Before the workshop,participants will be able to sign-up to play for Ms. Goree during the workshop. During the workshop, the volunteer performers will play an assigned section of the piece for Ms. Goree, and she will provide a unique feedback for the performer, as well as providing opportunities for all participants to play and try the concepts taught that is applicable for improving ensemble skills.
